The Mound Westonka White Hawks Spirit Store is a joint venture between Sportacular owner Kay Riley and DECA students from Mound Westonka High School. Partial proceeds of each sale go to the DECA program, allowing members of the community to contribute to students' continued success.
What is DECA? DECA is an organization of marketing students dedicated to furthering their business expertise. Students compete in a variety of business-related events, including, but not limited to, roleplays, mock interviews, public speaking, ad campaigns, and entrepreneurship adventures. Competitions are held throughout the school year, ending with a final international competition. This past year, MWHS qualified 20 students for the International Career Development Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
How does DECA benefit? The opportunity to help run the White Hawks Spirit Store gives business students valuable knowledge for their future. Distribution, marketing, and management skills are acquired through hands-on experience. Additionally, the proceeds of each sale geared for DECA allow the program to send students to competitions and valuable leadership conferences.
What's for sale? The White Hawks Spirit Store supplies red, black, and white apparel for all ages in the Mound Westonka community. Teams looking for team apparel can take a look at the options available, parents can proudly display White Hawks pride for their children, and students can show support for their mascot.
So take a look around! Show some pride in your school! And don't forget that every time you wear your red, black, and white, you are benefitting your community in so many ways.
